Acquire captures performance data from an IBM or compatible mainframe running z/VM v5.2 or later.
Currently this program only runs under z/OS where it reads data, under control of parameters that tell it what system to capture data for, possibly what dates and times to bracket the data, and other optional information. You are required to copy input data from your z/VM system to the z/OS system.
The main reason for this is the need for a sort program that can be invoked from Acquire such as IBM’s DF/SORT or Precisely’s product. Most z/OS systems have this, but z/VM systems often do not.
