When the Syncsort Capacity Management Portal and the SQL Server are on different machines IIS will present a user name of domain\machinename$ to access the SQL Server. This is a “machine account” in that it is the name of the Windows machine running IIS (not SQL Server), suffixed with a $ sign.

You must grant this machine account access to the SQL Server database where your Syncsort Capacity Management data is located.
  1. Make sure the Login is created using Windows Authentication (No other type will work).

  2. Then add a New User to the security settings of the database. Make sure it’s a Windows user and use the same domain\machinename$ account.
