To capture data from Oracle’s Real Application Cluster (RAC), each individual cluster member (instance) must be treated as an individual hosted target. This approach to capturing data using Syncsort Capacity Management’s Windows Acquire is exactly the same as for a standalone Oracle hosted target. The Windows Acquire using stored credentials, logs into the Oracle Database as a read only user (via SQL Plus); it then executes SQL statements and stores the resulting instance and database output into data files.

In the case of Oracle RAC, each member (instance) of the cluster and each database require a dedicated target created and a unique database login. The following example denotes the configuration steps required for a Windows Acquire capture.

Example – Oracle RAC is a 2 node cluster with members (instances) called RAC1 and RAC2. The RAC is hosting 2 databases, ORCL and DBCS.
