  1. In Syncsort Capacity Management System Manager, create a Windows hosted Oracle target for each cluster member; i.e., ORARAC1 plus include the database name within the target name, i.e. RAC1 - ORCL.
  2. Specify the correct connection string setup to connect to RAC1instance and database ORCL. If a connection string has not yet been created, refer to the System Manager online help.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2, until all RAC instances and associated database targets, in this case ORCL and DBCS have been created and appropriate connection strings assigned.
  4. Open Accounts.exe and associated the appropriate connection credentials to each target, making sure that each instance, i.e., RAC1, RAC2, etc., have unique user account logins. For example:

    Instance = RAC1, Credentials = rac1/passw0rd

    Instance = RAC2, Credentials = rac2/passw0rd

  5. Associate an Oracle Capture and Collection profile to each Oracle target to start capturing and processing Oracle RAC and database information.

This approach allows for redundancy by allowing for information from available cluster instances and hosted databases to be captured by the Windows Acquire, while capturing data using a single Windows Acquire connection to only one Oracle RAC member using GV$ views, if that instance became unavailable, all data capture would be lost for the cluster for that period of time.
