In summary, the main steps involved in configuring for push mode are as follows.

Install and/or configure an FTP Server for use as the Push Server

  • Using System Manager, specify the Push Server details in the Control Center properties page.

  • Create appropriate Capture Profile(s) and Collection Profile(s). The collection profile must have Push, Retrieve and Collect components in them.

  • Create the Windows targets, specifying the Push option for data collection. Assign the Capture and Collection profiles as the Target is being built.

  • When the Push Directory structure has been created on the FTP server, manually copy the “seeding” Capture Profile APMconfg.txt to each real Acquire’s APMin folder.

Each Acquire will then be able to retrieve its “real” Capture Profile, and Capture and Collection should start with no further user intervention required.

These steps are now explained in more detail.
