Software level and environment
The Syncsort Capacity Management Acquire for VMS is responsible for capturing performance data from VMS. The system on which you install Acquire can be an Alpha-class machine running VMS v7.3 or above, or an Itanium-based machine running VMS v8.x.
Connection to a system can be through FTP or SSH/SFTP, and the appropriate components must be in place on the VMS system to allow this. The VMS machine is the “server” end of communications from Syncsort Capacity Management, and Syncsort Capacity Management provides the “client” end of the conversation. The Acquire product name is APM.
The product install creates two new autostart queues on the system (each node in a cluster) so the following command must be activated in SYS$MANAGER:SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM:
$ ENABLE AUTOSTART /QUEUES
You should also ensure that the system queue manager is started.
