Library entity business rules allow you to create and maintain sets of EBRs and store them in a central location, accessible by other users logged on to the current repository.
With the Entity Business Rules Library you:
- Promote EBRs to the Library, and keep an association between rules and attributes, remove any associations, or delete the original rule.
- Create multiple library entities used to store reusable EBRs. EBRs can be associated to real entities, helping manage a consistent library of standards at the entity level.
- Add categories to rules.
- Manage rule categories and priorities.
Guidelines
Note the following when working with the Entity Business Rules Library:
- Promote an EBR to a new or existing library entity to create a centralized, shareable library EBR.
- When you promote an EBR, you can create an association between the library entity and the original real entity so when you update the EBR in the Library, the changes propagate wherever the rule is used, including the original.
- You edit library rules as you do any business rule, with the option to remove associations to real entities if you do not want the modifications to be propagated.
- You can copy library EBRs to any into a real entity to be used as a stand-alone rule. With these copies there is no connection retained to the original rule.
- You can add and delete rules from library entities, and add and delete entities from the Library.
- Export or import library entities to be used in other repositories.
