The Geocoder is a TS Quality address enrichment process that generates a precise address location by assigning geocodes (the exact latitude and longitude coordinates that correspond to a particular address) and appending them to input address data. The Geocoder is available for most countries supported by TS Quality. You can add a Geocoder process while creating a new project.

Guidelines

Note the following guidelines:

  • The US Postal Matcher includes the option for latitude and longitude data, so US projects do not use the Geocoder process.
  • Geocoding is not available for mainframe systems.
  • If you will be running a Geocoder on a UNIX/Linux machine, ensure that your dynamic library path includes /usr/local/lib.

For information about how the Geocoder generates latitude and longitude coordinates, see Assigning Coordinate Levels to Non US Countries. For information about how the US Postal Matcher assigns geocodes to addresses within the United States, see US Census Geocoding.
