You can open and edit schema files independent of a project flow using a version of the Schema Editor that remains external to TS Quality processes. For example, if you create a real-time project outside of the Control Center, you can import and edit the schema files used by these projects.

Any file edited in this external Schema Editor must reside on the client system--the same system on which the Control Center is installed.

Note: The external Schema Editor removes lines that contain "REDEFINE" or "ORG_RECORD." The Schema Editor does support redefines but it does not insert a REDEFINE comment line.

To edit a DDX file in the Schema Editor

  1. In the Control Center, click the Advanced tab.
  2. Click Edit Schema. The Schema Editor opens. (This option is grayed out if your Repository Administrator selected the Disable access to file system option for your environment.)
  3. Click Load DDX. A file navigation window opens.
  4. Navigate to and select a DDX file on your system and click Open. The Schema Editor populates with output attribute information.
  5. Edit, add and delete, copy, and move the attributes like you do when editing any process schema file.
Note: All attribute names are saved in uppercase.
  6. When you are finished editing the file, click Save or Save As to save the file to your system. If you click Save As, you are prompted to supply a new file name.
  7. Repeat Steps 3 through 6 to edit other files.
Note: Opening another file closes the current file. Save the current file before opening another.
  8. Click Close to close the Schema Editor window.
