Usually you would edit output schemas but sometimes you may need to edit an input schema for Quality projects. For example, if you have a Quality project where the first process is a Relationship Linker, the linking rules may require you to concatenate multiple input attributes into one attribute. This is because the Relationship Linker match rules are based on attributes contained in the input schema, not the output schema. In this case, you can edit the input schema to redefine the input attributes to create concatenation. Creating sub-attributes is another reason for editing the input schema, as well as creating concatenated attributes.
- The input schema editing option is enabled only if the entity is one of the initial input entities to a Quality process flow.
- If the entity is used in multiple projects, a warning message is displayed in the Schema Editor. You can edit the input schema for the entity used in multiple projects, but there are risks associated with doing this.
- If the input entity was created by a Quality process in a different project, there are risks in editing the input schema as the changes may break the processing in the source project. We recommend to make the schema changes to the entity in the source project. Also, if the schema inherits an upstream schema within the source project, then the source project is the only place where you could change the inherited schema.
- In Navigation View or Project View, right-click the name of the entity and select Advanced > Edit Input Schema. The Schema Editor populates with input attribute information.

Edit, add, delete, copy, move, and merge the attributes like you do when
editing any process schema file. Note: The Hide Inherited and Create Mapping Redefines features are not relevant for input schemas.
- Click Preview to check the effect of schema changes. All changes are temporary until you click the Finish button.
- When you are satisfied with the changes, click Finish to close the Schema Editor window.
To reset input schema
Use this procedure if you want to restore the input schema back to its original contents after making changes.
