Adding a Dependencies Process - trillium_discovery - trillium_quality - 17.1

A Dependencies process is added to a workflow to create permanent dependencies on attributes you select. After you run the process, you can view the created dependencies and explore conflicting values. You can also add an Analysis or Load process branch off the output entity.

To add and run a Dependencies process and view results

1. From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the input entity or the output from a Load process and select Add process branch. The Create Process window opens.
   Note: If you plan to copy the Dependencies process to the Library, you must add it to a Load process. The Load process must then be copied to the Library along with the Dependencies process.
2. In Process selection, select Dependencies.
3. Click OK. The Dependencies process branch is added to the flow. A dotted line connects the input entity to the process. In the Navigation View, the new process displays at the end of the list of processes.

4. Right-click the Dependencies process and select Edit Process. The Select Attributes window opens, showing two columns of attributes, LHS and RHS.

     Selecting these attributes defines the many-to-one relationships between attributes in a single entity. They consist of a left-hand side (LHS) which is composed of one or more attributes, and a right-hand side (RHS) composed of a single attribute. For more information, see About Dependency Rules.

5. Check one or more left-hand side (LHS) attributes to use in the dependency.
6. Check one right-hand side (RHS) attribute to use in the dependency.
7. Click OK.
8. Right-click the process and select Run. The Execute Process window opens.
9. (Optional) Select Include dependent processes to execute all processes that are branched off the current process. Select Use pipes. For details about using pipes, see the guidelines in Profiling Processes.
10. Click Run.
11. After the process runs, double-click the output entity to see rows that contain conflicting values. The Dependency Conflicts List View opens. Any dependency conflicts found during dependency creation are shown.
12. Drill down to see other metadata results:
    1. Right-click the input entity.
    2. Select Tools > Drill down to metadata. The Entity List View opens. The Permanent Deps row shows how many permanent dependencies were created.
    3. Double-click Permanent Deps. The Dependencies List View opens showing the analysis metadata.
