The Tableau Connector extracts metadata from a Tableau webserver and establishes lineage within assets.
The Tableau Connector enables you to extract metadata from a Tableau server, leveraging REST API functionality, such as navigating the folder hierarchy, searching the contents of a folder and downloading a report definition.
The harvester parses .TWBX and .TSDX data and extracts metadata from multiple sub-files. This is then passed to Data360 Govern.
The Tableau Connector supports:
- Tableau Server version: 2020.4 and later.
- The REST API version should be 3.10 or later.
- On-premises server and a server on AWS, GCP and Azure within network.
- Complete lineage between 'field used in worksheets' ↔ 'actual table columns'.
- Exhaustive metadata for each asset type.
- Linkage to database table columns if the source is SQL database, text or CSV file.
If the Tableau Server URL is HTTPS, the recommended authentication mechanism is NTLM. If the URL is HTTP, the NTLM authentication mechanism will still work, as will the Basic mechanism for either HTTPS or HTTP.
The Tableau Connector does not support:

- Tableau Analytics as a service with Tableau Online, the Tableau-hosted environment in the cloud.
