Depending on the responsibilities assigned to you, you can edit and add new items to existing policies or policy classifications. Top-level policy types used by your organization are typically agreed upon in advance by a group of stakeholders, and can only be created by users with administrator rights.

Edit a policy

  1. Go to the policy that you want to edit.
  2. Click the Edit button next to an existing policy asset.
  3. In the Edit Item panel, edit the properties of the asset as required. You can edit the name and description of the asset, or move the item to a new parent policy.

Add a child item to a policy

  1. Go to the policy that you want to edit.
  2. Click the Add button next to an existing policy to add a new child item.

  3. Use the New Item panel to define the name and description for the new policy asset.
Note: The Add button is missing from some items. This is because a maximum depth is set on a policy, which restricts how deeply nested the policy can become. For example, you can specify that a policy can only ever be 2 levels deep.
Note: As with other types of asset, your administrator can define further fields for you to complete when defining a new item. You might be required to provide more information for the policy definitions of your own organization.

Delete an item

  1. Go to the policy that you want to edit.
  2. Click the Delete button next to an existing policy asset, then click Delete to confirm that you want to delete the item.
Note: The Delete button is not available for all items. This is because you cannot delete policy items that have child items. In this case, you must delete all of the child items first.

After creating new policy assets, you will typically want to relate them to other assets, such as Business Assets, to capture which policies govern which business terms.
