  1. Select Rules from the navigation bar on the left of the screen to display a list of rule types that are available to you.
  2. Select a rule type.

The names and associated dimensions of each rule of the selected type are displayed.

  3. Click a rule to view the detail page for the item. For more information on the common sections of the asset detail page, see Inspecting assets.
  4. Click the Rule Results tab to display any rule results that have been loaded into the system.

Understanding rule results

All rule results are loaded into the system via the APIs, see Using the API to post data quality rule results. The Rule Results table provides the following information:

  • Asset Class, Asset Type and Asset - When you upload a rule result, you have the option to associate the result with a business asset or technical asset that exists in your system. If the result is associated with an asset, the asset details will be included in the Rule Results table.
  • Run Date and Effective Date - Run date and effective date of the rule result. If more than one rule result for an asset is loaded on one day (one effective date), this will be indicated in the table. By default, rule results are sorted by effective date, with the most recent listed first.
  • Pass Fraction - Calculated pass fraction. For example, if there was a total of 100 rows and all 100 rows passed, then the pass fraction would be 1. However, if there was a total of 100 rows but only 80 passed, then the pass fraction would be 0.8.
  • Total Rows - Total number of records.
  • Rows Passed and Rows Failed - Number of records that have passed, and number of records that have failed. When uploading rule results via the API, this information is provided by the PassCount and FailCount fields.
  • Passed - Specifies whether the result has passed or failed overall, based on the threshold defined on the rule.
Tip: Hover over the information icon on any row to see the corresponding rule result UID.

Exporting quality rules

You can export quality rules by using the Export to Excel button at the top of a table displaying a list of quality rules. For more information, see Exporting data from [%=General.Product Govern%].

Relationships

Click Related Assets to open the Relationships view, which you can use to see which assets are related to the quality rule.

Relationship types allow you to govern and validate business term assets with quality check rules. For more information, see Relating quality rules to assets.

Tip: If you are browsing through a list of rules, and select one to view the details, you will notice that when you close the detail page you are returned to the beginning of the list. To keep your place in the list, you can right-click and open the item in a new tab or window. Then, when you've finished viewing or editing the item, you can close the browser tab and return to the same place in your list. Please note, however, that if you are deleting items from a list, the page will not auto refresh if you have the list open in a different browser window.
