In other help topics, the methods that are described for adding new items, such as adding new Business Terms or Applications, are typically used to make small numbers of entries. To add large volumes of information, you can use bulk loading.

The Bulk Loader allows you to make multiple entries onto a spreadsheet which can then be uploaded into Data360 Govern in one go. For example, you can use bulk loading to upload a series of Business Term definitions or a set of users.

Note: As a first step, you must first ensure that any custom fields required for the asset are already in place, see Defining fields on asset types.

To start, navigate to Administration > Integration > Bulk Loader to open the Bulk Loading page.

If the default Action setting of Promotion is used when adding a job, the Information panel includes a Status entry while the job is running, to give you information about the current stage of the job. When the job is finished, Took (minutes) displays the total time.

The following values are used:

  • Queued - The job has been submitted and queued.
  • Processing spreadsheet data - The job has been started and the spreadsheet is being loaded.
  • Submitted requests - API requests have been submitted but not started.
  • Processing requests - API requests are being processed.
