Data360 Govern provides a collaborative platform for users to follow and post comments or hold discussions on an asset. From the detail page of an asset, you can view comments by clicking the Comments tab.

From the Comments tab, you can add, edit and remove comments. Also by default, when you take an action on an asset by clicking the Take Action button, the description of the action is used to create a comment. If you are an administrator, you can choose to disable this functionality, see Customizing the application.

Add a new comment

  1. Go to the detail page of an asset and click the Comments tab.
  2. Type your comment in the Add a comment box.
  3. Click Tag an item and enter an asset, user or group tag, as needed, then click Post.

If a notification has been configured beforehand, then an email is sent to users or groups, informing them that they have been tagged.

Notification emails

If a user or group of users is tagged on a comment, an email is sent to the relevant users. The email includes:

  • Who created the tag.

  • When the tag was created.

  • A View Comment button, which opens the content of the comment.

Note: The contents of the comment are not included in the email, in order to protect any private information.

If a user is tagged, but they do not have read access to the asset, the View Comment button and any links will direct the user to the home page.

Users will only receive an email notification when another user has posted the comment and not, for example, if a comment is posted when an action is taken.

See Configuring email notifications for more information about how to configure notifications.

Edit, delete or reply to a comment

  1. Click the Comments tab and hover over the relevant comment.

These buttons are displayed:

  • Reply
  • Delete
  • Edit
Tip: If you are an administrator, you can delete comments posted by any user, at any time. If you are not an administrator, you can only delete comments that you have posted within the last five minutes.
