Assure MIMIX Promoter functions will not work through an exclusive no-read lock. If a file required by a Assure MIMIX Promoter function has an exclusive (*EXCL) lock placed on it, the Assure MIMIX Promoter function will fail.

Files that contain object locks can affect Assure MIMIX Promoter functions that require the use of the locked files. The Assure MIMIX Promoter functions can be affected in the following ways:

  •    At startup, if there is an exclusive, no-read lock on any object required by a Assure MIMIX Promoter function, the function will fail.

  •    At end of the record processing cycle, the reorganize process requires an exclusive lock or you may have requested an exclusive lock on the CPYACTF command. If the file is locked by another function, Assure MIMIX Promoter enters a processing loop to attempt to gain the lock without stopping the Assure MIMIX Promoter function. Unless you intervene, Assure MIMIX Promoter will continue to attempt the exclusive lock until it is successful. Messages are placed in the job log for the process explaining the attempt to acquire the lock. The function appears on the Work with Copy Status display in LOCKING state.

  •    When Assure MIMIX Promoter begins cleaning up any temporary journals it created, journaling cannot be ended if there are locks on the file. Assure MIMIX Promoter sends an inquiry message that requires a reply. You have the choice of retrying the cleanup after the application, which holds the locks, or leaving the file journaled with the temporary journal. If you choose to leave the file journaled, you will need to assume responsibility for managing or removing the temporary journal.
