Two commands provide the core of Assure MIMIX Promoter operations, the Copy Active File (CPYACTF) command and the Reorganize Active File (RGZACTF) command. The function they provide is similar to the function provided by the IBM commands Copy File (CPYF) and Reorganize Physical File Member (RGZPFM). You should be aware of the similarities and differences between Assure MIMIX Promoter commands and the IBM commands.

The main difference is that CPYACTF guarantees to copy all records without requiring an exclusive lock, including updates that occur before the copy point. When processing completes, the target file has all the same records as the source file. With the IBM command Copy File (CPYF), if files are not taken out of production during processing by using an exclusive lock, all records may not be copied.

Your original files will not be affected if an error occurs during processing of the CPYACTF command or the RGZACTF command. Assure MIMIX Promoter leaves the original files intact and makes no changes to them until all processing has completed successfully. If a problem occurs, the command can be reprocessed when the error has been determined and corrected.

The Assure MIMIX Promoter commands, like the IBM commands, do not automatically submit themselves to batch. You can specify batch processing on both Assure MIMIX Promoter commands or you can use the Submit Job (SBMJOB) command.
