Active jobs for CPYACTF requests that specified a To file (TOFILE) library other than QTEMP and specified *LOCAL for Protocol (PROTOCOL) can be ended and resumed later. If you need to manually end these jobs and later resume them, you can do so with either option 20 from the Work with Copy Status display or the End Copy Active File (ENDCPYACTF) command.

Note: Before you end the job, determine whether an active copy operation is eligible to be resumed. See Determining if an active job can be resumed if ended.

To end the job, do the following:

  1. On the Work with Copy Status display type 20 (End as resumable) next to the job and press Enter.

  2. A confirmation display appears. Verify that the job listed is the one you want to end and press Enter.

It is normal for the job to run for several minutes before ending. To update status on the Work with Copy Status display, press F5 (Refresh). When the job is ended, the status displayed in the Process Action column is Resumable.

To change how long to keep data for resuming when you end the job, do the following:

  1.  On the Work with Copy Status display type 20 (End as resumable) next to the job and press F4 (Prompt).

  2. On the resulting End Copy Active File (ENDCPYACTF) display, specify a different value for the Keep resumable data (days) prompt. If you specify a number, data for resuming is kept for the specified number of days from the date of the last completed checkpoint. If you specify *NONE, the job will not be able to be resumed.

  3. Press Enter.
