You should assess your storage requirements for each system on which you install Assure MIMIX Promoter. Consider the following when determining your total storage requirements for Assure MIMIX Promoter:
Does the system have enough disk storage to allow duplicating each file with which you plan to work?
Does the system have enough storage to support journaling?
Is the storage accessible to the appropriate ASPs?
If a file that you will work with is not already being journaled, Assure MIMIX Promoter will create a temporary journal in the same auxiliary storage pool (ASP) as the file. The system must have adequate storage to support journaling. You should allow for a 5% to 10% increase in CPU usage to handle the processing associated with the journaling overhead. For more information about journaling requirements, see the IBM book, IBM i Backup and Recovery.
For each file that you will be working with, the ASP in which the file exists must have adequate storage equal to at least two times the size of the file, plus the storage required for the journaling activity.
