When you specify a number in the Keep resumable data (days) (KEEPRSMDTA) parameter, you are identifying the number of days to keep the data necessary to resume the copy request if processing is ended before the copy operation completes. The default value will keep data 7 days from the date of the most recent checkpoint or until the operation completes. To ensure the job can be resumed if it ends unexpectedly, you must specify *LOCAL for the Protocol parameter and the To file (TOFILE) must be in a library other than QTEMP.
If *NONE is specified for a request, checkpoints are not taken while the copy operation is in progress. However, you may still be able to end the job in a way that creates a checkpoint so that the job can be resumed.
For a detailed description of the behavior of copy active file requests that can be ended and resumed, see End and resume CPYACTF jobs.
