When Discovery Center imports (or links to) your data, it runs an analysis to discover the various structural elements of your data. Data structures are defined by the number of data sources (tables and files), rows (rows of records), and attributes (columns or fields) you import to a repository.

  • Data Sources – Repository objects that correspond to tables in a relational data model. A data source may also be created from a file in which data is stored in columns and rows.
  • Attributes - Repository objects that represent the column fields for a table you import when you create a data source.
  • Data Rows – Data records (or rows) discovered when you create a data source by importing a data table or file.

Discovery Center gives you the visualization tools you need to help you better understand your data structure and relationships, and navigate to the metadata and data details that give you insight into the business rules you need to create to monitor your data quality standards.
