When you view data sources on a page of search results, you can export to your local system (or server) some or all data source metadata rows. You can also export Source Metadata views that contain all metadata in a data source as well as drill-down views of values associated with metadata such as duplicate rows, enabled business rules, and permanent or discovered relationships.

The exported file is saved in a comma-delimited format (.CSV), and can be used in other applications and imported into other repositories.

To export data source search results

  1. In the Find Data Sources Search Results view, select the rows you want to export by clicking the check box, or anywhere in the row, to highlight it. To select multiple rows, press the Ctrl or Shift key and click the rows you want to export. To select all rows on a page, click Select Page.

    All columns in the view will be exported. To remove columns from the view or change column positions:

    1. Click Column View Options > Choose columns. The Edit Columns window opens.
    2. Move the columns you do not want exported to the Available Columns section.
    3. To change the order that columns display in the view, move columns up or down in the Included Columns section.
    4. Click Done.
  2. After you have selected the rows to export, click Export Results and select Export Selected Rows or Export All Rows. The Export Rows window opens.
    Note: All rows export is available for server exports only.
    Note: Choosing Export All Rows exports all available rows on the tab, not just those shown in the current tab view.
  3. When exporting selected rows, for Export to select one of the following:
    • Select Server file system to export a file to the server system. The exported file(s) are saved in the default export location: (C:\Program Data\Trillium Software\MBSW\version\Data\export).
    • Select Local file system to export to your local file system.
  4. Enter a name for the .CSV file. Do not include any of the following invalid characters in the file name:  \ / : * ? " < > |
  5. Click Export.

    For server exports, the file is exported to the default export location. If there is a file with the same name in the download location, it will be replaced with the new file.

  6. Optional: If you are exporting to your local system, do one of the following:
    • Click Save. The file is emostxported to your browser's default download location: C:\Users\username\Downloads. If there is a file with the same name in the download location, the file name will be appended with a unique number.
    • Click Save As to save the file to a specific location. In the Save As window, browse to the location where you want to save the file and click Save. If there is a file with the same name in the download location, you are prompted to replace the file. Click Yes to replace the file or No and then enter a unique name. Click Save.
    • Click Save and Open to save the file to the default location and open the file now. If there is a file with the same name in the download location, the new file name will be appended with a unique number.

Export the contents of the Source Metadata tab

To export the contents of the Source Metadata tab

  1. Open a data source.
  2. In the Data Source: Name panel, click the Summary tab.
  3. Click the Source Metadata tab (below the In the Data Source: Name panel) and select the rows you want to export by clicking the check box, or anywhere in the row, to highlight it. To select multiple rows, press the Ctrl or Shift key and click the rows you want to export. To select all rows on a page, click Select Page.
    Note:

    If you plan to export all Source Metadata rows, you do not have to pre-select the rows.

  4. All columns in the view will be exported. To add or remove columns from the view, or to change column positions, click Column View Options > Choose columns.
  5. Click Export Rows and select one of the following:
    • Export Selected Rows.
    • Export All Rows to export rows on all pages of the Source Metadata tab, not just those in the current view.

    The Export Rows window opens.

  6. When exporting selected rows, do one of the following:

Export drill-down metadata from the Source Metadata tab

To export drill-down metadata from the Source Metadata tab

  1. Open a data source. In the Data Source: Name panel, click the Summary tab.
  2. Click the Source Metadata tab (below the In the Data Source: Name panel).
  3. Double-click a row highlighted in blue that has a value larger than 0 to open a tab showing additional metadata. For example, clicking the Enabled Business Rules row opens a tab showing all enabled business rules in the data source.
  4. In the metadata tab, select the rows you want to export by clicking the check box, or anywhere in the row, to highlight it. To select multiple rows, press the Ctrl or Shift key and click the rows you want to export. To select all rows on a page, click Select Page.
  5. All columns in the view will be exported. To add or remove columns from the view, or to change column positions, click Column View Options > Choose columns.
  6. Click Export Rows and select one of the following:
    • Export Selected Rows.
    • Export All Rows to export rows on all pages of the tab, not just those in the current view.

    The Export Rows window opens.

  9. When you export all rows for most data source metadata tabs, the Rows for Export section displays. Choose an export option:
    • All rows. All available rows will be exported.
    • Maximum rows (the default). Only the specified number of rows will be exported. Enter a value up to 2147483647. The default is 5000000. This restriction ensures that a large dataset export will not exceed the file limits imposed on .CSV files.
  10. Click Export.
