In the Business Rules Library, from the All Library Rules tab, you can view all rules in the library. You can customize the list of rules by running a filtered rule search using conditions. This is helpful if you have dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of library rules. When you add a rule to a rule set, it becomes a library rule. Rule sets allow you to group, import, and export sets of rules for use across repositories.

Note: Library rules in rule sets associated with data sources will be included in search results when you run a business rule search from the Find Rules panel (click View Rules from the navigation menu).
Note: You can also search for rules in the Library from the universal search on the top menu bar.
To view all library rules or apply a filtered rule search
  1. In the left navigation menu, select Library > Rules Library. The Business Rules Library opens.
  2. Click the All Library Rules tab. By default, the Show All search is active and the tab populates with all rules in the library.
  3. To run a search using conditions, click Filtered Search. The conditions panel opens.
  4. Select the ALL (default) or the ANY operator to build one or more condition(s).
  5. Build your conditions by selecting metadata (left drop-down list), operators (middle drop-down list), and populating the right text box or drop-down list depending on the metadata and operators you select.
    1. Click the rules metadata drop-down list (left) and select one of the following options:

      Aggregating

      Filter Expression

      Rule Set Name

      Aggregate Expression

      Grouping

      Threshold

      Description

      Group Expression

      Enabled

      Priority

      Expression

      Rule Name

      Filtering

    2. Click the operator drop-down list (middle) and select from the available options:
      contains equals
      does not contain greater than
      does not equal less than
      ends with starts with
Note: Depending on the metadata selected, not all operators are available.
    3. In the text box (right), enter the keyword by which to filter the rules. The text string you enter is not case-sensitive. For some metadata selections, text boxes are replaced with a drop-down list of additional metadata to choose. For example:
      • For Aggregating, select either yes or no to find rules that use (equals) or do not use (does not equal) aggregation expressions.
      • For Grouping, select either yes or no to find rules that use (equals) or do not use (does not equal) grouping expressions.
      • For Priority, select a rule priority from the drop-down list.
      • For Threshold, enter a percentage value. If you do not add an appropriate value, you see the message: Enter Percentage Value.
  6. To add a condition, click the Add condition icon ().
  7. To remove a condition, click the Remove condition icon () .
  8. To add a sub-group, click Add Sub-group. Add conditions to the sub-group as needed.
  9. To remove a sub-group, click the Remove Group icon ().
  10. To remove all conditions and sub-groups and start a new search, click Clear
  11. Click Find Rules. Rules matching the search criteria populate the All Library Rules tab. Review and export the library rules and their metadata using the guidelines in Viewing All Library Rules Metadata.
  12. To add a rule set, click Add New Rule Set and follow the instructions in Adding a Rule Set.
  13. To edit one or more library rules, select the check boxes next to the rules and click Edit. The Edit Rules panel opens where you can modify the rule description, priority, threshold and other values.
