When you open or drill down to metadata rows and data rows in a tab view, you can save the data displayed in the tab by exporting it as a comma-separated value (CSV) file. Save the file to either your local (client system) drive or the default export directory on the repository server system to share and view the file in other applications.

The exported file includes the contents of each visible column, in the order in which the columns display in the tab. Before exporting, you can hide and unhide columns, and change column positions. To modify columns in a tab view, see Column View Options.

Guidelines: Note the following:
  • Not all tab views support export to server systems. For example, rows in the Join Analyses tab (available on the Find Join Analyses page) can only be exported to your local system.
  • When you use the All Rows export option, many tab views that show data rows, metadata, and passing and failing rule results support setting a value for the maximum rows to export. This restriction ensures that a large dataset export will not exceed the file limits imposed on .CSV files and helps improve performance.

To export selected or all tab rows

  1. Open the tab whose contents you want to export.
  2. Select the row you want to export by clicking the check box, or anywhere in the row, to highlight it. To select multiple rows, press the Ctrl or Shift key and click the rows you want to export. To select all rows on a page, click Select Page. To select rows on other pages of the same tab, click the next button at the bottom of the page.
Note: If you plan to export all rows on the tab, you do not have to pre-select the rows.
  3. (Optional) All columns in the view will be exported. To remove columns from the view, add a column to the view, or change column positions:
    1. Click Column View Options > Choose columns. The Edit Columns window opens.
    2. Move the columns you do not want exported to the Available Columns section.
    3. Move the columns you want exported to the Included Columns section.
    4. To change the order that columns display in the view, move columns up or down in the Included Columns section by dragging and dropping the column name, or selecting the name and clicking the up or down arrows.
    5. Click Done.
  4. Click Export Rows or Export Results and select one of the following:
    • Export Selected Rows.
    • Export All Rows. All rows are exported to server systems only.

    The Export Rows window opens.

Note: Choosing Export All Rows exports all available rows on the tab, not just those shown in the current tab page.
  5. When exporting selected rows, for Export to, select one of the following:
    • Select Server file system to export a file to the server system. The exported file(s) are saved in the default export location: (C:\ProgramData\Trillium Software\MBSW\version\Data\export).
    • Select Local file system to export to your local client file system.
  6. Enter a File Name for the .CSV file. Do not include any of the following invalid characters in the file name:  \ / : * ? " < > |
  7. When you export all rows for certain views, the Rows for Export section displays. Choose an export option:
    • All rows. All available rows will be exported.
    • Maximum rows (the default). Only the specified number of rows will be exported. Enter a value up to 2147483647. The default is 5000000. This restriction ensures that a large dataset export will not exceed the file limits imposed on .CSV files.
  8. Click Export.
  9. Click Export.

For server exports, the file is exported to the default export location. If there is a file with the same name in the download location, it will be replaced with the new file.

  10. If you are exporting to your local system, do one of the following:
    • Click Save. The file is emostxported to your browser's default download location: C:\Users\username\Downloads. If there is a file with the same name in the download location, the file name will be appended with a unique number.
    • Click Save As to save the file to a specific location. In the Save As window, browse to the location where you want to save the file and click Save. If there is a file with the same name in the download location, you are prompted to replace the file. Click Yes to replace the file or No and then enter a unique name. Click Save.
    • Click Save and Open to save the file to the default location and open the file now. If there is a file with the same name in the download location, the new file name will be appended with a unique number.
