Determines if an attribute or string is empty. Returns 1 (TRUE) if the value is empty, 0 (FALSE) if the value is not empty.

Syntax

IS_EMPTY(value)

where value is the attribute or string.

Examples

• IS_EMPTY("") returns 1 (TRUE).
• IS_EMPTY("Ruiz") returns 0 (FALSE).
• IS_EMPTY(" ") returns 0 (TRUE).

Note: In the last example, the result is true even though there is a blank space in the string.

Determines if a value is Boolean, returning 1 (TRUE) if the value is a valid Boolean and 0 (FALSE) if it is not.

Syntax

IS_LOGICAL(value/"value")

where value is the value (such as a string of characters) you want to test.

Example

• IS_LOGICAL("Y") returns 1 (TRUE).
• IS_LOGICAL(0) returns 1 (TRUE).
• IS_LOGICAL("G") returns 0 (FALSE).

IS_NULL(value)

where value is the attribute or string.

Example

• IS_NULL("Boston") returns 0 (FALSE)
• IS_NULL("") returns 1 (TRUE)
• IS_NULL(" ") returns 0 (FALSE)

Note: In the last example, the result is false since there is an blank space in the string.

Determines if a value is a number that can be used in calculations, returning 1 (TRUE) if the value is a valid number and 0 (FALSE) if it is not.

Syntax

IS_NUMBER("value")

where value is the value (such as a string of characters) you want to test.

Examples

• IS_NUMBER("1.3") returns 1 (TRUE).
• IS_NUMBER("1.3s") returns 0 (FALSE).
• IS_NUMBER("30") returns 1 (TRUE)
• IS_NUMBER(" 3") returns 0 (FALSE).
• IS_NUMBER("$50.00") returns 0 (FALSE).

Determines if a value is unique. Returns 1 (TRUE) if the value is unique. Returns 0 (FALSE) if the value if not unique.

Syntax

IS_UNIQUE(value)

where value is the attribute or other value you want to test.

Example

IS_UNIQUE('Boston') returns 1 (TRUE) when Boston is a unique attribute.

Converts an integer to a decimal.

Syntax

TO_DECIMAL(number)

where number is the integer number you want to change to a decimal. 

Example

TO_DECIMAL(22) returns 22.0.

Converts a decimal to an integer by rounding down. The TO_INT function allows input of 32 and 64 bit integers. The range is [-9223372036854775808] to [9223372036854775807], inclusive. Anything outside of that range, and all other non-numeric input returns a null value.

Syntax

TO_INT(number)

where number is the decimal number you want to round down.

Examples

TO_INT(22.523) returns 22.

TO_INT(12-12-2001) returns null

TO_INT(12.12.2001) returns null

TO_INT(125-34) returns null

TO_INT(922337203685477580902) returns null

TO_INT(123.45y6) returns null
