You can use either the Assure MIMIX Installation Wizard or command-based processes to install each instance of MIMIX that you require. Each instance is a separate installation process.

Wizard Users - Take Note! You must be aware of the following behavior of the wizard so that you can select appropriate options in the wizard and perform any necessary follow up actions during configuration.

For new two-node installations, the wizard’s MIMIX Configuration panel requires that you specify information that it uses to partially configure MIMIX and defaults to starting MIMIX processes. This behavior is best practice for many environments, but not for FlashCopy. To be able to verify that the resulting configuration components are correct and fix if necessary, you must not allow the wizard to start any MIMIX processes.

On the wizard’s MIMIX Configuration panel:

  • The names you specify for the MIMIX node (SYSDFN) prompts for Node 1 and Node 2 will be used to create system definitions. Be certain that you know which nodes are the source and target systems of the flash.
  • For the Primary node prompt, you must specify the node that is the target of the flash. This may not seem logical, but it will result in the system definitions being created correctly. (The wizard forces the node specified in this field to be defined to MIMIX as a network (*NET) system.
  • You must specify No for the Start MIMIX prompt. Failure to do so will result in a more difficult process of correcting the configuration if the system definitions do not correctly identify their type (*MGT or *NET)

Also, after a successful installation, the wizard defaults to deleting installation files. To simplify installing another instance, you can specify No, keep installation files on the wizard’s Installation Cleanup panel.
