Predictive Recall allows installations to avoid delays in the batch production window caused by recalls of migrated data. With Predictive Recall application, migratedproduction data sets can be recalled prior to their actual use, resulting in a shorter batch window.
Predictive Recall uses the information from a job scheduler to create a list of production datasets that will be accessed in the next production cycle. The Predictive Recall applica- tion checks to see if any of those data sets have been migrated. The application generates HRECALL commands that can be passed directly to an Inactive Data Mover. This recall job can be scheduled to run when the system is under-utilized thereby shifting the workload.
Note: For DFHSM customers, the reports will show the number of recalls the installation is experiencing per hour throughout the day, or a daily summary report. They can be tailored to only show production recalls if those recalls can be identi- fied by data set name pattern or qualifier. For more information, The MON-PRECALL daily thrashing report.
