This guide introduces EASY/Exit, a component of the Storage Control Center suite that enables z/OS system programmers to quickly develop, implement, and maintain IBM system exits without requiring an IPL. Learn how this solution simplifies exit development using the SCC rules language, provides dynamic installation and removal capabilities, and offers robust debugging and error recovery features. Intended for system programmers and administrators who need to customize IBM system, DFSMShsm, and ABARS exits in z/OS environments.

  • Allocation Control Center (ACC) defines policies for installation standards, enforces controls on data set creation and use, and provides system-managed storage enhancements that make the storage administrator more effective.
  • SCC Monitor actively monitors conditions in the DASD subsystem and auto-matically intervenes when specified thresholds are met.
  • SCC DLimit tracks disk storage utilization at the application level, preventing runaway space use and automatically notifying storage administrators when specified limits are exceeded.
  • Space Recovery System (SRS) automatically intercepts and prevents X37 abends, VSAM errors, and other out-of-space conditions which occur even in the best-managed systems. SRS virtually eliminates production errors due to insuffi-cient space problems.
  • Application Backup Center (ABC) uses installation defined policies for auto-matic application aggregate generation for ABARS backup control. The product also contains log management and operational facilities to assist in system recov-ery.
  • SCC Explorer is a PC-based client that communicates through DIF to work with SCC Monitor, MVS Console and TSO commands, system utilities, as well as third party software products. The application can display information in a vari-ety of formats, reports and graphs. The Explorer can also perform storage man-agement and installation defined actions on the host. An optional database tier can also be added to collect storage management events for historical analysis.
  • SMS/Debug is a real-time debugging tool for IBM DF/SMS. Trace facilities are available for the production ACS rules language, the DF/SMS volume selection routines and the DADSM pre and post processing exits.
  • EASY/Exit allows installations to quickly develop IBM system, DFSMShsm and ABARS exits. The exit logic is coded in the SCC rules language that can be refreshed with a simple command. The product dynamically installs and removes exits, and provides excellent debugging and error recovery facilities.

This manual covers the product verification, configuration, and use of EASY/Exit. The installation procedures for all the SCC products can be found in the Product Installation Guide. The next chapter will highlight the product's capabilities and components.

Easy to Install SCC is designed to work with your current environment; additional hardware and soft-ware upgrades are NOT required. EASY/Exit dynamically installs exits - an IPL is NOT required. The logic within an exit can be changed at any time with a DIF REFRESH com-mand.

This product has been designed for IBM OS/390 and z/OS operating systems.
