REORGAN SCC-DLimit database

The REORG statement can be used to resize a database, merge databases, and/or remove logically deleted records. Note: The REORG does not recalculate the account values, but only deals with the database account records. For information about recalculating the account values, examine “RESYNC” on page 7-31.

The REORG utility reads the DLimit database records from the DD specified on the FROMDD parameter and writes them to a temporary data set (SYSUT1 DD). All logically deleted DLimit account records will be skipped when writing records to SYSUT1. The SYSUT1 records will then be written to the DD specified on the TODD parameter. The input and output DD statements can be allocated to the same data set. Also, the input DD can contain concatenated DD allocations to merge multiple DLimit databases. The SIZE parameter can be used to enlarge (or shrink) the new database.

If the ACTIVE parameter is specified, the command notifies all DIF started tasks in a Sysplex that a DLimit REORG is being processed, and all DIF started tasks will quiesce the local version of DLimit. After the reorg completes, DLimit will be reinitialized and activated. This allows an active database to be reorged for an entire sysplex. However, during the reorg, DLimit will be inactive.

REORG INDD( ddname )

OUTDD( ddname )

ACTIVE

LIST

SIZE

INDD ( ddname )

Function: This is a required parameter. The INDD parameter specifies the name of a DD statement that specifies the backup version of the ICF-Catalog used as the DLimit database in a previous 2.2 release. Refer to the BACKUP statement for details on creating the input file.

Default: None

Format: INDD( ddname )

OUTDD ( ddname )

OUTDD( ddname )

Function: This is a required parameter. The OUTDD parameter specifies the name of a DD statement which will be the target of the conversion. This DD statement must refer to a sequential dataset on DASD or tape. The dataset must be of sufficient size to hold all of the converted data.

Default: None

Format: OUTDD( ddname )

ACTIVE

Function: This is an optional parameter.

Default: None

Format: ACTIVE

LIST

Function: This is an optional parameter. The LIST operand indicates that the names of the accounts processed during the REORG operation are to be displayed in the SYSPRINT dataset.

Default: None

Format: LIST

SIZE ( recs )

Function: This is an optional parameter. The SIZE can be used to control the number of records written to the OUTDD database. Note: The SIZE parameter is rarely used. If it is used, the number of recs specified must be selected in conjunction with the space available in the output file.

Normally, a REORG request is simply used to remove logically deleted records from an active DLimit database - so a SIZE parameter should not be used.

SIZE may be appropriate when databases are being merged with REORG.

Note: The maximum number or DLimit database records is 65535 records - one for each possible DLimit account.

Default: None

Format: SIZE( recs )

Example: The following example shows the use of the REORG statement to remove logically deleted DLimit records from the database.
//DLMAINT EXEC PGM=DLMAINT,REGION=4M
//STEPLIB DD DISP=SHR,DSN=DTS.R71.LOADLIB
//OLDDS	DD DSN=DTS.R71.DLSDB,DISP=SHR
//NEWDS	DD DSN=DTS.R71.DLSDB,DISP=SHR
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSABEND DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN	DD *
