Load or update the SCC-DLimit account information.

The RESYNC statement is used to update accounts in the SCC-DLimit database to reflect the current amount of space used on DASD volumes. This may be necessary when initially populating the SCC-DLimit database or when a volume has been restored or brought online without actually allocating any datasets (for example, full-volume restore). It may also be used when datasets which were not previously tracked by SCC-DLimit are to be placed under SCC-DLimit control, for example when allowing SCC-DLimit to track the use of a new set of high-level qualifiers. When the RESYNC statement is specified, DLMAINT examines the datasets on the volumes specified by the filter criteria. For each dataset selected by the filter criteria, DLMAINT executes the SCC-DLimit rules and determines which account(s) the dataset is associated with. The space occupied by that dataset is then added to the space fields for the accounts; as subsequent datasets are processed, DLMAINT continues to add the space occupied by each dataset processed to the appropriate accounts. The date-and-time of last access to the account, and the high-water mark for the account, are also reset to reflect that RESYNC processed the account.

Note: If account values are to be cleared prior to resync, refer to the RESET CLEAR control statement.

The RESET CLEAR operand indicates whether the accounts processed by RESYNC will be reset to zero space before adding space for the first dataset belonging to the account. If RESET CLEAR is not specified the occupied space will simply be added to existing accounts. The RESET CLEAR(ALL) operand is used when the space assigned to accounts must be recalculated, instead of just updated.

Warning: Exercise caution when issuing RESYNC. It is a powerful function and can be very time consuming when run against all volumes.

RESYNC DETAIL

This function requires ALTER authority to the DSL.$CONTROL facility-class resource.

DETAIL

Function: This is an optional parameter. The DETAIL operand indicates that space and account information is to be displayed for each dataset processed, and that space information is to be displayed for each account processed. The amount of space assigned to each account before and after RESYNC processing is also displayed.

Default: None

Format: DETAIL

Resync examples

The following example shows the control statements necessary for a RESYNC executed to update the SCC-DLimit database for datasets with a given high-level qualifier. The RESYNC might be necessary because these datasets were not previously under control of SCC-DLimit, because DASD volumes were restored or brought online, or for other reasons.

The INCLUDE statements specify the particular datasets and volumes that are to be processed by RESYNC. The SET DATABASE statement indicates that the currently active SCC-DLimit database is to be updated. The SET RULES statement specifies the member containing the rules which are to be used to assign the space occupied by datasets to SCC-DLimit accounts.
