The Storage Control Center is a group of integrated storage management software productsdelivered as a software suite. This manual describes the distribution, installation, verification, and support options available for the following Storage Control Center products.
- ACC: The Allocation Control Center (ACC) is a systems software product that allows your installation to control DASD and TAPE resources. The product is also integrated with DFSMS and provides tracing facilities for the DFSMS ACS routines.
-
SRS: The Space Recovery System (SRS) dynamically recovers disk space allocation failures. SRS intercepts the space failure. If the rules language allows recovery, SRS forces the operating system to get the required disk space, and your applications can run to completion.
-
Monitor: Actively monitors conditions in your DASD subsystem and automatically intervenes when specified thresholds are met. All monitoring and automation facilities are installation configurable.
-
DLimit: Tracks disk storage utilization at the application level, preventing runaway space use and automatically notifying storage administrators when specified limits are exceeded.
-
ABC: The Application Backup Center uses installation defined policies for automatic application aggregate generation for ABARS backup control. The product also contains log management and operational facilities to assist in system recovery.
-
SCC Explorer: SCC Explorer is a PC-based client that communicates through DIF to work with SCC Monitor, z/OS Console and TSO commands, system utilities, as well as third-party software products. The application can display information in a variety of formats, reports, and graphs. The Explorer can also perform storage management and installation defined actions on the host. An optional database tier can also be added to collect storage management events for historical and trend analysis.
-
SMS/Debug: A real-time debugging tool for IBM DF/SMS. Trace facilities are available for the production ACS rules language, the DF/SMS volume selection routines, and the DADSM pre and post processing exits.
-
EASY/Exit: Allows installations to quickly develop IBM system, DFSMShsm, and ABARS exits. The exit logic is coded in the SCC rules language that can be refreshed with a simple command. The product dynamically installs and removes exits, and provides excellent debugging and error recovery facilities.
-
UsefulTools and Accessories: Arepository for FREE tools that is provided for users.
Important: The StorageControl Center is a group of systemsoftware products. The person responsible for installing the product(s) should have the ability and authority to work with authorized load libraries and modify system procedure libraries.
Checklist
The following checklist summarizes the steps required to install SCC products.
- Create the distribution libraries on your host machine. The product distribution libraries can be delivered in a variety of formats, but the result is a set of software distribution libraries on your host system. For more information, Software delivery.
- Create the productiondata sets. For more information, examine Installation.
- Runthe Installation Verification Procedure (IVP) jobs. For more information, examine Step 10 - Perform the Product IVPs.
