Afghanistan announces new six-digit postcode system to enhance postal efficiency
A new data series is available for Afghanistan, comprising 1405 records for locality, sublocality and postcode level.
The designated operator of Afghanistan, Afghan Post, has introduced a comprehensive six-digit postcode system aimed at improving postal services and logistics across key regions. This new system, which replaces the former four-digit postcode, is designed to streamline the sorting and delivery of mail, facilitating faster and more accurate postal services within the country.
An additional two digits have been added to the previous four-digit postcodes, which generally remain unchanged. The postcode's format is two-digit province followed by two-digit city or rural district followed by two-digit postal delivery zone. For example:

The new six-digit postcode came into effect on 1st October 2024.
