Assure MIMIX for AIX
The following is a list of new features in MIMIX for AIX version 5.2.4.0. For more details, see Assure MIMIX for AIX User Guide.
VES-112
Implement the addition of an LV to a running configuration.
Added this feature to MIMIX SMIT in this release. The product should be entirely shut down, drivers unloaded on the recovery, and the LCA agent shut down on the production; however, drivers and file systems can still be loaded and installed on the production. As a result, there is no need for application downtime.
VES-1971

Various statistics for logging disk IO and network speed. MIMIX SMIT includes a monitor that shows disk IO rate, Super Transaction IO rate, and network speed.

VES-2304
Reduce connection retry timeouts, connect() timeouts, and improve RN agent down network handling.
MIMIX SMIT allows you to configure a network timeout, which solves the majority of network issues. Also allows you to measure network performance with several threads using the below command:
"esmon -t <port_number>" - recovery
"esmon -t <port_number> REC_IP MBs_To_Send Nr_of_Threads" - production
For example:
"esmon -t 8101" - recovery
"esmon -t 8101 10.22.34.102 100 4" - production
(Send 100MB by using 4 threads, 400 MBs is sent total)
VES-2341
During configuration, scsetup can be improved to check for the existence of a PDFC LV before creating pt LVs.
VES-2370
MIMIX DR configuration changes that do not require downtime.
Currently, no configuration changes require downtime, except for,
  • Changing default VG on the production server
  • Removing a protected LV from the configuration

The product should be completely stopped, drivers unloaded on the recovery, and the LCA agent stopped on the production; however, drivers may still be loaded on the production and file systems installed. As a result, no application downtime is necessary.

VES-2855
SMIT support for MIMIX for AIX product.
The SMIT interface for MIMIX for AIX can now start with the smitty mimix command. The new SMIT interface enables you to configure, manage, and monitor multiple replication groups.
VES-2864
Install/Uninstall scripts.
The install script is included in the product installation zip file. During the installation process, install script will display the EULA file and check for confirmation that the EULA is accepted before installing the product.
VES-2865
Remove MXWS dependency on /etc/hosts file.
MXWS, VSP node agent require that the hostname of the node be included in /etc/hosts. This hostname is provided to VSP PA and utilized by PA to access the MXWS node.
This feature adds the ability to delete the dependency, if necessary, using this commmand:
/opt/visionsolutions/mxws/service/bin/start_mxws.sh LOCALHOSTNAME 10.22.34.102
VES-2866
Clean-up MIMIX for AIX logs.
This functionality helps you to clean up MIMIX for AIX logs and reduce them in size or remove unnecessary logs.

Command: /usr/scrt/bin/es_cleanlogs

VES-2867
Clean-up/Restore after shrinking a logical volume.
MIMIX for AIX does not support LV shrinking. If you shrink a file system unintentionally or on purpose, the product may malfunction. A number of manual procedures are necessary to resolve this issue and restore the usual replication process. This release includes two new scripts:
  • "es_reducelvprd" to be run on the production server
  • "es_reducelvrec" to be run on the recovery server
