Connect CDC

If you select New Model on the Connect CDC MonCon window or from the main menu choice Model>New, you enter information on the following dialog:

With the information in this dialog, Connect CDC MonCon can get the model from HTTP or host, save it to the local cache, and load it.

  1. In the model name box, specify the case-sensitive name of your model. Exclude any model name qualifier like “(production).” The model name will be displayed in Connect CDC Director at the top of your model window.

  2. Specify either Host or HTTP Protocol to use to retrieve the model (host is the default).

    • If you select Host:

    1. Enter the Host machine name and the port number. (1701 is the default port number).

    2. In Security Options, select the Encryption options for your host’s Listener port.

      • None—no encryption

      • Encryption—Includes authentication with encryption.

If the encryption option you select does not correspond correctly to the model, you receive a message that states MonCon failed to establish connection with the specified port.

    3. Click OK to continue.

      • If you select HTTP:

    4. In Server, enter the Web server name.

    5. In Directory, enter the Root directory, which is the offset from the DocumentRoot directory. The DocumentRoot directory sets the directory from which HTTP serves files. (To find out what to fill in here, consult the Connect CDC Director Model Properties dialog, XML/Encryption tab where the URL to access it is specified, or consult your system administrator for details on how your Web server is set up.)

    6. Click OK.

You have options depending on the configuration of the model:

  • If a Model is set up without users and passwords, it is loaded without any login prompt.

  • If a Model is set up with users and passwords and you want to have all the application’s functionalities available, log in as a user with an ADMIN role.

  • If a Model is set up with users and passwords and the user is not ADMIN, log in as one of the users in the Model Security table. (See Set up model security for more information). Logging in as a 'simple' user allows you to do everything except initiate Model Update or Email Notification.

Note: If you use incorrect login information for a secured model, the model will not load.
