As with other database types, when the distribution is successfully defined, the source table moves from the Available Tables branch to the Sending Tables branch, and the target table is displayed in the Target Tables branch immediately below the source table. The Receiving Tables branch of the target server displays the target table and the source table to which it is mapped. Additionally, as shown below, the journaling status follows the source table name. Some libraries automatically journal the tables that belong to them.

Note the following:

  • For Replication (but not for Copy), the source table has a validation requirement that the table must be assigned to a journal that records before- and after-images of the data changes.

  • For Replication and for Copy, the receiving table on the target host has a validation requirement that the table must be assigned to a journal that records before- and after-images of the data changes.

  • Journaling must be *BOTH (before and after images)
