The Assure Unified Interface server enables the use of enhanced browser-based user interfaces to Precisely products that provide portal applications (MIMIX and iOptimize). When the native user interface install processes in this book are used to install a new Precisely product on an IBM i platform, the Assure UI server is not installed even though the portal application has been restored on the system.
Do the following.
-
If this is the first time you are installing version 10.0 of the Assure Unified Interface (formerly known as VSP), be aware that earlier versions of portal applications are not compatible. See Assure UI portal upgrade and portal application compatibility considerations.
-
The Assure UI server can be installed on several server platforms. Choose the platform where the Assure Unified Interface will run and use one of the following to install the Assure UI server:
-
To install the Assure UI server on an IBM i platform, use either Installing or upgrading the Assure UI server using a product installation wizard - IBM i or Installing or upgrading the Assure UI server from a stream file - IBM i . You can install the server on any IBM i node in your network that can communicate with the node or nodes where the product which provides a portal application is installed.
-
To install the Assure UI server on a supported Windows® platform, use Installing or upgrading the Assure UI server and portal application - Windows.
Note: Installing the server on a second node is recommended for high availability. Also, you can install the Assure UI server and portal applications on a system where the base product is not installed. -
-
Complete the setup of the Assure UI environment using Completing the Assure UI portal setup for a new installation.
See the Assure Unified Interface User’s Guide book for information about which products provide portal applications, server runtime requirements for each supported server platform, the location of installed software on each server platform, and additional details for setting up the Assure Unified Interface portal.
