You must stop Spectrum Java processes on a host machine before you begin the upgrade from an earlier version. You must also make certain that no Spectrum Java processes are running before you start Spectrum Technology Platform for the first time after the upgrade. During setup, make sure that you clear the option to start the server after installation. This allows you to stop all Java processes running on the machine before you start the upgraded Spectrum Technology Platform server for the first time.
