The primary way to connect to Vertica databases is via ODBC. With Vertica version 7 or later, Connect establishes parallel connections using Vertica COPY LOCAL, providing optimal performance, ease-of-use, and dynamic tuning.
With older versions of Vertica, there are cases when the Connect Vertica Load Example Files method may perform better than the ODBC method, as described at the end of this topic in "Choosing a Method."
