A server in an EDMM usually represents an instance of a database management system containing shared data and the computer system on which it runs.
A sending server is a server where data is captured or extracted, and sent to a target or receiving tables at a receiving server. A host-only server hosts an Connect CDC process but contains no database instance, no source data tables, and no target tables.
You must define at least one sending server and one receiving server to distribute data.
