Attributes that are defined as relational have their values copied to the snapshot table. A database index can be created for each attribute that is relational. A database table index makes it much faster to search an attribute's values, however maintaining it also increases the time it takes to update an attribute value. Limit the number of indexed columns to keep the database workload to a minimum.

To add or remove a search index for an attribute:

  1. Log into EnterWorks Classic as a user with administrative privileges.
  2. In the Feature bar, open Content, open the desired repository folder, select the desired repository, select Edit, and select Attribute Properties.
  3. The Attribute Properties window will appear. It lists the properties for each attribute defined in the repository's profile. The attributes are organized by the tab they are assigned to, so find the attribute under the tab section.
    • To add a search index:
      • Check the Create Index checkbox.
      • If the Relational checkbox is not already checked, check it.
    • To remove a search index:
      • Clear the Create Index checkbox.
  4. Click the Save button on the bottom of the list.
  5. Clear the cache.
  6. If the attribute was already relational, you do not need to rebuild the snapshot table. But if the attribute was not relational and you just made it relational (you checked the Relational checkbox), the snapshot table must be rebuilt. Check the Job Monitor to see if a snapshot table rebuild was triggered. If it was not, drop and rebuild the snapshot table. You may need to refresh the Job Monitor to see the job's current status.
