Switching is when you temporarily change the roles of the systems. The original source system (production) becomes the temporary target system and the original target system (backup) becomes the temporary source system. When the scenario that required you to switch directions is resolved, you typically switch again to return the systems to their original roles.
This chapter provides information and procedures to support switching.
In environments licensed for Assure MIMIX DR, only virtual switching is supported.
Virtual switching does not reverse the roles of the systems and is not covered in this chapter. For detailed information about virtual switching, see Support for virtual switching.
