A step message is an optional, user-created configuration element that defines the error action to be taken for a specific error message identifier. A step message provides the ability to determine the error action taken by a step based on the error message identifier. Each step message is defined for an installation but can be used by multiple steps or by steps in multiple procedures.

When a step with a specified error action of *MSGID fails, MIMIX will check the installation for a defined step messages that matches the step's error message ID. If a matching step message exists, it determines the error action used for the step. If a step message is not found for the error, processing quits without running any subsequent steps in the procedure.

Note: Any step with an error action of *MSGID that can encounter the specified message ID will take the error action specified in the step message.

No step messages are shipped with MIMIX.
