The IFS objects to be replicated must be in the Root (‘/’) or QOpenSys file systems. The following object types are supported:

  • Directories (*DIR)

  • Stream Files (*STMF)

  • Stream files can have multiple hard links. The use of multiple hard links is only supported by user journal replication. For more information, see Support for multiple hard links.

  • Symbolic Links (*SYMLNK)

Table 18 identifies the IFS file systems that are not supported by MIMIX and cannot be specified for either the System 1 object prompt or the System 2 object prompt in the Add Data Group IFS Entry (ADDDGIFSE) command.

Journaling is not supported for files in Network Work Storage Spaces (NWSS), which are used as virtual disks by IXS and IXA technology. Therefore, IFS objects configured to be replicated from a user journal must be in the Root (‘/’) or QOpenSys file systems.

Refer to the IBM book OS/400 Integrated File System Introduction for more information about IFS.
