It is possible to experience degraded performance of database apply (DBAPY) processing after enabling journal standby state. You can reduce potential impacts by using the Change Recovery for Access Paths (CHGRCYAP) command, which allows you to change the target access path recovery time for the system.

Note: While this procedure improves performance, it can cause potentially longer initial program loads (IPL). Deciding to use standby state is a trade off between run-time performance and IPL duration.

Do the following:

  1. On a command line, type the following and press Enter:
    CHGRCYAP
  2. At the Include access paths prompt, specify *ELIGIBLE to include only eligible access paths in the recovery time specification.
