Use the procedures in this topic to convert IFS entries from system journal (object) replication to user journal (database) replication using the Convert Data Group IFS Entries (CVTDGIFSE) command. The CVTDGIFSE command provides the most efficient way to convert IFS entries to user journaling.

Topic User journal replication of IFS objects, data areas, data queues describes the benefits and restrictions of replicating these objects from user journal entries. It also identifies the MIMIX processes used for replication and the purpose of tracking entries.

You can choose to convert all or some of the IFS entries currently configured for system journaling within a data group. The CVTDGIFSE command uses a temporary data group that allows the specified data group to remain active during most of the conversion process.

The IFS entries are copied to the temporary data group, changed to allow cooperative processing, and IFS tracking entries are created. Journaling is then started for the IFS objects on the source system and, if specified, also on the target system. The copied IFS entries replace the existing entries, and IFS tracking entries are moved to the existing data group. If necessary, the data group is changed to the values specified on this command and to a data group type of *ALL. The existing data group is ended and restarted to make all the changes effective and the temporary data group is removed. If requested, an #IFSATR audit request is submitted after the conversion completes.

The CVTDGIFSE command runs interactively and requires your response to inquiry messages while the conversion is in progress. You may also be prompted to provide input for additional commands.
