With the recent release of 2020 US Census geography, CrimeIndex data is now based on the updated roster of Census 2020 Block Group boundaries and definitions. In this 2022 release, CrimeIndex data is joined with shorelined Census Bureau TIGER/Line 2020 Block Group boundaries. These Census 2020 supporting boundaries are aligned to a geography base change planned across the GroundView demographic product suite for the US.
Precisely data scientists continue to use an updated build methodology that provides a dataset that more accurately reflects the geographic spread of crime which is not normally distributed.
CrimeIndex indices and category assignments were updated for 2022.
