Daytime Population (Australia) is comprised of the main data variable total_daytime_pop for Statistical Area Level 1 geography units (based on Census 2021 boundary definitions) in Australia. This dataset also includes several geographical attributes of the SA1: the area of the SA1 in sq. km, the overlying SA2 geographic codes and names, and other contextual geographic identifiers such as its corresponding Postal Code and Suburbs (where available). The total daytime population estimates provided in this product is a comprehensive average daily figure that includes all people who live in the area, all people who work in the area and all people who would visit the area for a business purpose. Daytime Population (Australia) is informed by Precisely’s Estimates and Projections (Australia) dataset, which is the source of residential population, ABS’s Business Counts dataset, from which the number of employees and visitors are derived, and by other sources of data described in the Methodology section of this product guide.
