Context Crime Index is compiled using two inputs: Precisely boundary polygons and crime data compiled by Precisely. Precisely boundary polygons are updated on a quarterly basis. Crime data from federal and local sources is compiled and updated annually.
Due to a lack of updated source information for Puerto Rico, Block Groups for the territory were removed from CrimeIndex (US). As a result, the 2024 release of CrimeIndex (US) contains Block Group data for the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Context Crime Index, which uses CrimeIndex (US) an input source, opted to use crime data from the previous 2022 release of CrimeIndex (US) to maintain some crime data for Puerto Rico.
