Context is a comprehensive suite of measured and modeled analytics within specific geographic boundaries, offering a unique view of the makeup, quality, and influence of an area. Context CrimeIndex provides aggregated and summarized crime data built to work in conjunction with the Precisely Boundary products specified in the Product availability section of this document.
Precisely Context CrimeIndex data measures the likelihood that criminal activity may occur within associated Precisely Boundaries in the US and Puerto Rico, according to 11 crime types.
Overall Crime (a composite measure based on all crime types)
Violent Crime Score
- Murder
- Rape
- Robbery
- Aggravated Assault
Property Crime Score
- Burglary
- Larceny-Theft
- Motor Vehicle Theft
- Arson
Each crime variable includes both a numerical score – where higher values denote the increased likelihood of criminal activity – and a qualitative categorization that helps explain the relative crime level when compared to the Nation as a whole. A state-wise score is also provided to allow users to perform in-state comparisons of geographic areas. This set of variables (crime scores and qualitative categories) has been built and linked to Precisely Boundaries to create the Context CrimeIndex data product.
